About Tbilisi
Tbilisi-the capital of Georgia since the IVth century, has been known as an important city-castle and a crossroadsof intensive caravan routes.The city celebrated its 1,500 years anniversary in 1958. Modern Tbilisi is a political, economic,administrative and cultural center of Georgia . It stretches alongside the river Mtkvari. Though Tbilisi has sustained numerous invasions and was destroyed plently of times throughout the ages, it is rich with historical monuments. Population is at 1.5mln. It is one of the mostly multiethnic cities in the world. There are Georgian Orthodox, Armenian Gregorian and Catholic churches, Synagogue and Mosque neighboring each other around a small city square. Tbilisi is proud of its museums, drama theaters, opera house, stadiums, sport and chess palaces… Tbilisoba is a City-day, usually being celebrated in October.
